You can have open borders or you can have a welfare state. You cannot have both. We have never had a national referendum on this question since Joe Biden didn’t say this was what he was going to do when elected. If Skid Row Joe and the rest of his degenerate party want open borders then just say it. Progressives seek a “fairer and more equitable” nation. They state that opening the nation up to the world will accomplish that. Okay.
First the welfare side: we can’t let people into this country willy-nilly and then give them free phones, free lunches, free education, free healthcare, free sex change operations, free housing, free…
Because nothing is free. Welfare is not free. We add a trillion dollars every one hundred days to our debt. Someone will have to pay for that some day. (Hint: no one is going to pay that off; get ready to compete with illegal aliens for scraps off the street.)
And crime is not free. We all end up paying for that through torture, murder, chaos, and fear.
Now, the open border side: there are legitimate arguments for open borders. If that’s what the Democrats and their financial backers want then just come out and say it.
Many businesses want open borders because it drives down the cost of labor, the single largest expense the vast majority of businesses incur. Lower costs equal lower prices. We all want that. Of course, we all want jobs, too.
I saw a speech given by a construction company’s CEO who stated that construction companies would go bankrupt if they couldn’t tap into the illegal labor market. Of course, he said he didn’t do that, and even if that were true, subcontractors he hires probably do employ illegal aliens. Is he for open borders? No, he said, but until the competitive labor market is fixed, it is an unfortunate necessity for most in his industry.
Big Tech and Big Healthcare, among others, want it, especially because of the H-1B visa program. H-1B allows college-educated foreigners with specialty skills to work in the United States. There are 85,000 visas allotted each year. That represents 85,000 jobs not going to American citizens but because our abysmal colleges are not turning out enough techies and engineers, these workers are desperately needed. Large, multinational corporations also use them to replace higher cost, fully qualified American employees. The program is a high-tech slave labor scheme since companies control the process. Of course with open borders, their low-cost specialty labor can just backstroke across the Rio Grande without the visas.
Obviously, the agricultural industry wants open borders. As Nancy Pelosi asks, who would pick the oranges if there weren’t any “newcomers”?
The hospitality industry wants it. Who will clean the hotel rooms, cook the meals, do the laundry, clean the pools?
Manhattan housewives want it. Who would change the diapers of their future elite snot-nosed snobs?
Libertarians want it because they believe in completely open markets: labor should be allowed to move where the jobs are, regardless of citizenship. Free market utopians demand this but we don’t live in a free and equal world. In the way that a person’s ingenuity and discovery are protected by a patent, so too should a nation be able to protect its successes from those who do not do what’s necessary to be successful in their own right.
If, for instance, Mexico wants a stable economy, their government might look to what we used to do and emulate it instead of forcing citizens to choose between success to the north or dysfunction where they live.
Nayib Bukele, president of El Salvador, stated that a nation shouldn’t want to lose citizens to immigration. The only way a nation can become prosperous, he argues, is to have a free market governed by laws and not men. This allows innovation and a citizenry that can thrive and has no reason to leave. Believe it or not, peace actually breaks out when nations are law abiding and prosperous.
There are huge concerns with the astronomical number of military-age men crossing the border. It represents a mix of those who intend us harm and those who are true economic migrants. Setting aside the more dangerous creatures, the economic migrants will destroy our labor market, up and down the economic scale. Most come from destitute and chaotic countries and when they can’t find jobs, they will be destitute and become chaotic.
Once upon a time there were large numbers of economically distressed, military-aged men in colonial America. Guess what they did? They stayed and fought for a new nation. I look at most of these young men crossing the border as cowards. Stay and fight for your families and nation. Be heroes, not deserters.
If progressives want a “fairer and more equitable” nation with open borders, let’s take a look at a more fair and equitable way of achieving their goals without open borders.
First, simplify the tax code to lower rates without allowing for deductions or loopholes. Second, bring innovation to the education system by allowing an “all of the above” approach through competition and streamlined public schools. Third, begin a transition away from the welfare state with encouragement for private philanthropic and charitable organizations that focus locally on individual community needs. It is how America used to manage itself—and quite well—before the Great Depression and FDR’s birth of government-sponsored welfare.
The tax code, the education system, and the welfare system were created by progressives and in doing so, they discovered a source of unlimited political power. Opening the doors to unlimited illegal immigration with future amnesty only increases progressive power through elections and increased welfare at the expense of Middle America. They don’t care if they destroy the nation; they will rebuild it in their own image with free labor, a.k.a. slavery.
Let’s be honest, Joe. Are you advocating for industry, libertarians, and/or progressive elites’ households? Or are you trying to increase the power of your progressive/fascist state? Which one?
The truth is that beyond future political power, Joe and his degenerate friends are advocating for industry, but not the industry that helps Middle America. While shady Bureau of Labor statistics show modest job gains (after massive downward readjustments) under “Bidenomics”, all have gone to foreign born employees (mostly all going to illegal workers).
You, Joe, are using shadowy NGOs to ship illegals into the nation and that explains those direct flights from foreign airports bypassing the chaotic border, probably delivering foreign techies to subvert the H-1B process. Zero Hedge reports that NGOs partner with mega corporations that “include RedRoof Inn, Royal Farms, Shopify, CSX, Delta Airlines, DoorDash, Etsy, and even Bloomberg.” Joe, even your Secretary of State signed letters of memorandum with these NGOs assisting your campaign donors in importing low-cost workers. Government partnering with corporations to affect policy and make a buck? That’s fascism, Joe.
Tell us where you stand, Joe. Stop ignoring the problems you’ve created on the border and in America’s heartland. Let’s have an an honest referendum on open borders. Let all Americans know that you favor open borders and will keep those doors open as long as you and your party are in power.
Unfortunately, Joe Biden is not capable of introspection. His party is not capable of caring for what is best for America. These progressive/fascists care only for power and money and they do not care for the rule of law; they do not care for us. They want to replace all citizens—black, white, brown and any other distinction they use to divide us.
Ultimately, the choice really doesn’t come down to open borders or a welfare state; a prosperous nation can do without both.
And now, for something completely different…
