We have, unfortunately, very little in common with Europe. Obviously, we were born and bred by Europe but at our founding, we were the vanguard of modern Western thought, reason, and political experimentation, i.e. Western civilization. The founders urged isolation so we had the time to develop without the encumbrance of continuous conflict that European imperialism wrought. Commerce with all, entanglements with none.
Two hundred and fifty years later, that may no longer be the case, but as far as our march toward nihilism has taken us, Europe now leads that charge.
What we must realize is that leftists on both sides of the Atlantic are attempting to take total power from their respective citizens. The Euros use the same tactics as our leftists: paid protestors, media propaganda, censorship, lawfare, judicial dictatorships, Machiavellian political machination, and let’s not forget, flooding their populations with illegal immigrants. In other words, color revolutions for everyone!
Europe has bathed in their Climate Change! hysteria by destroying access to cheap and plentiful energy; they are destroying, in the name of Net Zero!, the very industries that keep them fed, warm, and semi-self sufficient. They imported third world refugees in order to shore up their social welfare state without consideration as to how these people would fit with Western values. Of course, they did not assimilate and as a result, Europe faces the worst crime spree in ages and the same people who they brought in to save their social welfare state are draining it dry.
Internally, the European uniparty is waging war on their citizens with draconian woke policies meant to shield their illegal immigrants from embarrassing their globalist ambitions. People are thrown in jail for mean Tweets, especially if they’re anti-immigrant or anti-woke.
The European Commission—the unelected politburo of the EU—has attempted to take down U.S.-based social media companies with their Digital Services Act (DSA). Their intentions appear noble—it’s for the children, dammit!—but it is a thinly veiled worldwide threat to free speech. As the opening gambit to reforming the American relationship with Europe, J.D. Vance castrated the EU ninnies at the 61st Munich Security Conference, setting the stage for America’s gravitation away from the “liberal beacons” of Western civilization. Western civilization is, of course, an embarrassment to these leftist douchebags.
None of this, in hindsight, should come as a surprise. Europe really doesn’t have a good track record on freedom. First, they were ruled by monarchies, then socialists, fascists, Nazis, dictators, and then the post-war democracies that are now devolving back to socialism and fascism. As Janis Joplin sang, Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose.
Led by the European Commission, the Europeans believe they are righteous in the flagellation of their own people but they have entered a realm of a fire so deep, so hot that they will not likely emerge as the Europe of old. Europe has nothing left to lose… And they aren’t free.
The ills of Europe could fill tomes weighing tons. Let’s just agree that their leaders are childish dimwits that have brainwashed the majority of their citizens into accepting the prescribed dark fate. As a distraction to keep the majority of Europeans oblivious to their diminishing standard of living and freedom, the elites have channeled George Orwell and 1984. The threat of war is a good distraction but distraction is a move of desperate people.
Enter Ukraine.
With the help of the U.S. neocon ninnies, Europe lured Russia into a bloody and costly ground and pound war by inviting Ukraine into the EU and, worse for the former Soviet sensibilities, NATO. In the 90s, as the Soviet Union began to crumble, the Western powers promised that Ukraine would never gain admittance to either; we broke our promises.
This doesn’t justify Vladimir Putin’s aggression but exposes the trip wire that the neocons set. If this war were to play out the way the Europeans and neocons want, Russia would be splintered into pieces and the West would gain the vast natural resources of the largest country in the world. But what would the Eurotrash want with these resources? They are already committed to suicide by idiocy.
As war wages, the Europeans and NATO have continually poked the Russian bear into expanding their war beyond Ukraine. So far, Putin has resisted but it seems that the Europeans don’t care; they will continue to ratchet up the pressure. Russia was accused by the EU of jamming the GPS of a plane carrying the unelected dictator-wannabe EU Commission Ursula von der Leyen. Whether true or not, fuel has been dumped on the EU’s hell fire mission.
Emmanuel Macron, that strange little worm from France, is preparing the French hospitals to be ready to take on massive casualties from a non-existent war. Germany is supposedly about to ramp up wartime production of armaments which begs the question: How the hell do they think they are going to start manufacturing weapons when they can’t even provide consistent electricity to their diminishing industrial might?
Maybe the Eurotrash are trying to resurrect the Marshall Plan; start a war, blow everything up, and wait for the Uncle Sam’s checks to start flowing in. The problem is that America is broke. There will be no more bailouts.
Which brings us to Russia, or more to the point, Vladimir Putin. Is Putin the poster child for warm and fuzzy? Absolutely not. He’s a ruthless sonofabitch that would just as soon have you drawn and quartered for looking at him the wrong way. He’s killed competing politicians and oligarchs to gain and retain power. He is guilty of ruthless behavior toward enemies, foreign and domestic alike; and, of course, he’s former KGB.
Minus murder, however, is Europe really acting less nefarious than Putin?
From the view of Donald Trump’s populist coalition, Russia is becoming less the villain and more an unexpected ally. Regardless of what Putin “experts” suggest, Putin probably has never really believed it possible to get the ol’ Warsaw Pact gang back together. Would he like to? What does it matter, because why would he? The former Soviet Bloc has a dwindling population, no natural resources (as if Russia needs more), and present no threat to Russia; well, except for all of those pesky NATO bases on their doorstep.
Putin’s latest public relations push would have you believe that when he came to power, Russia was in a mess and he saw reunification with Europe as a way to rebuild his communist-ravaged country. At the time, Europe’s economy was extremely strong and growing, they were committed to moderate politics, and Russia had the cheap energy to fuel Europe’s expansion and grow Russia into a modern economy. Putin claims that he offered up economic cooperation with the West and expressed an openness to joining NATO.
Let’s suspend disbelief for a moment.
Historically, Russia is part of Europe. The Bolshevik Revolution ended that relationship and with the demise of the Soviet Union, the West missed a golden opportunity to make a lasting peace and a stronger Western community. Putin has never bought into the existential threat that is Climate Change! nor is he on board with the globalists. In fact, one of the primary reasons for European shunning of Russia is that Putin does not share their globalists’ ambitions.
After the Alaska Summit, Putin seemed a bit giddy after meeting with Trump. During Trump’s first term, their relations were frosty, mostly because of the failed Russia, Russia, Russia B.S. that handcuffed a sitting U.S. president from conducting foreign policy. Whether appealing to Trump’s ego or not, Putin stated that the war never would have started if Trump had been reelected in 2020.
This time around, especially after Trump literally dodged a bullet, Putin sees Trump as the real deal. His aim wasn’t to only talk about the war with Ukraine; Putin probably extend the same offer that he is thought to have with all of Trump’s predecessors dating back to Bill Clinton. If all indicators are correct, Putin is still very interested in rejoining the West, so long as we back off the aggressive push to bring Ukraine into the European fold.
Of course, he just pranced around with Xi Jinping of China, Little Rocket Man Kim Jong Un of North Korea, and Narendra Modi of India, all of whom face stiff tariffs from Trump because of their collective support for Putin’s war on Ukraine. Regardless of appearances, Putin would just as soon not have to deal with China; like oil and water, China and Russia don’t mix.
Putin is walking a tightrope; if he is able to achieve a reunification of sorts with the West, then he has done what’s best for Russia. But Trump is only around for three more years. If another crazy-eyed Democrat or an establishment Republican wins in 2028, any deal Putin and Trump work out will be scrapped as a matter of course.
None of this endorses Putin. Again, he is one of the most despicable dudes on today’s geopolitical stage. Full disclosure: I made a prediction weeks before Putin crossed Ukraine’s border that Putin would absolutely not go into Ukraine. Of course, I only play a key advisor to the world’s leaders on TV (another full disclosure: this is tongue-in-cheek; I’m really not on TV nor am I a key advisor, nor do I know what the hell I’m talking about).
An X poster named Armchair Warlord put out his or her dark theory on Putin’s objectives in Ukraine. Apparently there was a leak from Ukraine’s military exposing that one point seven million Ukrainian troops have been killed or are missing in action. That represents seven to eight percent of the Ukrainian prewar population. All Western nations are experiencing negative birthrates to the point that economies will crater regardless of efforts to do otherwise. Ukraine losing almost two million men and women in prime age is a death knell to the future of the Ukrainian economy, no matter how much rare-earth minerals can be mined as a result of our agreement with Ukraine. Russia is no longer gobbling up territory even though Ukraine is pretty much toast. Armchair Warlord posits that Putin’s objective is to wipe out as many Ukrainian soldiers as possible in order to keep it weak and malleable in their postwar world. This is a dark theory, but certainly not out of the question.
So, yes, Putin is a maniacal Machiavellian bastard who has definitely committed some of the worst war crimes of this century, but it is par for the course in that part of the world, which shows that we really don’t want to be hanging around in that neighborhood.
All of these people who preach against isolationism aren’t really all that smart. Outside our borders, the preservation of Western civilization is something worth fighting for, if only to preserve a rules based society somewhere in this world. The Europeans are committed to killing Western civilization. If we want to save it, we can no longer look to Europeans as sharing our values, because they don’t. It is time to seek out others that will fight with us.
If saving Western civilization is pivotable to ensuring the survival of orderly society, the pragmatic approach would be to seek Russia as an ally. Otherwise, we need to stay behind our borders and let the rest of the world figure it out. In the long run, however, it may not really matter.
[Of note… Yes, I have been negligent in my writing on these pages. My last article was about the fun times had in San Francisco with Alejandro Mayorkas. I had intended to take a break so as to work on another writing project but certainly not for this long. I’m still working on the other project—it’s lengthier than anticipated—and I have to be done with it before I can rededicate to this fun but profitless endeavor. This piece is the 137th article posted on Substack since October 2021, but only the seventh since the beginning of 2025.
I started writing on Substack because I was pissed at what was going on around us (and I needed a break from the project I have now restarted). Covid and Biden, two entities eternally linked to corruption and treason, were enough to piss off just about anyone with a modicum of common sense. Globalism, Climate Change! (I use the exclamation point to mock the shrill cries from the gullible), the World Economic Forum, the downfall of globalization, and other topics kept my interest enough to write. With the ascendancy of all things Trump, a lot of air has been sucked from the room. I went too far down the rabbit hole of that election to write about anything else. This long break will be healthy for refocusing.
The complete breakdown on the left has me both amused and terrified; when something is in the process of self-destruction, the vacuum left has to be filled—that’s where the fear resides. These collapsing leftists are now promoting violence. There is a cold civil war brewing between the states as Texas redistricts and California retaliates. Blue states refuse to accept federal supremacy where it is constitutionally required. To be fair, red states pushed back against Biden’s war on the right. I find myself wanting the blue states to move on down the road. Canada is looking for relevancy and so maybe they might offer shelter to the West Coast and New England. We’ll take Alberta in an even trade. The Left seems to be wanting this as well.
The economy, while looking rosy under Trump, is really going to take a turn for the worse; the federal government has too much outstanding debt and future obligations for stability to remain.
Our politics are toxic. The things that once bound us together, regardless our differences, don’t appear to be there anymore. These are scary times. When something is particularly scary, I’ll write about it. Until then, keep your powder dry (whatever that means) and thanks for reading!]
